Kangaree 2014

Hello 1st Belmont Community

Census 2014/15

Census 2014/15 has been and gone. At close of census we registered:
  • Adult helpers: 1
  • Leaders: 26
  • Joey scouts: 25
  • Cub scouts: 38
  • Scouts: 20
  • Venturers: 12
  • Rovers: 10
  • Total: 115 youth members

Total Census amount: $18,300.00 which we pay from fees collected

Those on quarterly fees payments please pay before last week of School terms.

Sincere thanks to Steve Read who completed Census whilst Scott and I were on leave - a huge job !

Fundraising Update

We raise funds to subsidise 50% of youth fees for Kangaree, Cuboree, Jamboree, and 100% of fees for leaders and adults attending. Our Kangaree target of $2,000 was achieved and our Cuboree target is $7000 and we are halfway with $3,600 raised from footy car parks and scrap metal drive.

Coming up next is the Trivia night, if you haven’t started selling seats to your friends please do!

Thankyou all helpers.

Another EASY fundraiser is tenants for our halls. Either regular weekly tenants or casual hire. If you know of anyone who is looking for a hall for regular classes or kids parties or social gatherings (NOT 18ths and 21sts!!) please recomend our halls.  Casual hire is $140 per evening/day,  Regular classes $25 per session up to 3 hours. Have you seen the new HALLS FOR HIRE sign in High St ?

Our parents committee is getting up to speed but still needs parent reps from some sections. Talk with Greg Brown, to see if your section could do with a rep. on committee.

Leaders, leaders,  leaders, leaders, more leaders.

Yep . Again, Whilst Monday and Wednesday Cubs are doing OK for leaders (with 3 trained and 1 to train each of these sections) We are struggling to keep our two joey mobs open as we are down to 4 leaders between the two Joey Mobs when we should have 8 !!!

We have too many kids for one mob with a whole batch of near 6 year old siblings on the waiting list. One new parent may start training but as his child is a already 7 he only has a year in joeys.

If you know of any families with 6 year olds, whose parents may be leader potential !! You know who to call !

The severe leader shortage in the Scouts section is the same as many updates. One leader who returns to Tasmania in 18 months time and two part time leaders. Scouts was cancelled once last term.

And still no female Venturer Scout leader.

Many camps and activities have been, gone and enjoyed by all, so don’t forget to see their stories on our website.

Reminder, David is on two weeks leave 12/7 to 27/7

Scott returns from leave 16/7

Sincerely in Scouting, your Group Leaders,

David Smith
