"Spare"

Do you remember you put your name down early in the year to attend Gilweroo on 22-24 November?  Well you’re one of the lucky ones with a place! There are now 1800 Scouts booked to attend Gilweroo 2013 and another 320 on the waiting list! To secure our place 1st Belmont has already paid for this camp so now we need to re pay the group. While we have not finalized transport and food costs, it is expected to be around $70 for this amazing three day "mini Jamboree"  Payment must be made to the 1st Belmont bank account before the end of October to hold your place, and be sure to put your "first initial" "surname" and "Gilweroo" as the reference (eg "S.Barnes-Gilweroo").

We will be camping with Highton Scouts as a large troop and will be leaving on Friday morning. You will also need to give a couple of hours of your time on Saturday, November 16th to pack trailers with camping gear.

Gilweroo Silver Activities include flying fox, catapults, rock climbing, challenge valley, water slide, stack N crash, pyrographics, bush boards and heaps more... see www.gilweroo.com.au for more details and photos.
Not on the list and keen to go? Then send an email to Tyto (Scott Barnes –
scott@belmontscouts.org.au) NOW as there may be a couple of places available.

JOTI 18th - 19th October (Friday night - Saturday afternoon)

We hope to link up by Skype with the United Kingdom 1st Belmont Scout Group in the small hours of Saturday morning and through the day. Interested in a night hike and sleep over before getting onto Skype?  Then note this date and stay tuned for more details very soon.

Fees

If you opted to pay your Scout membership fees by instalments each term, them this terms instalment is due now. Please pay $90 into the group account and remember to include the reference with your Scouts name.  (eg “S.Barnes-Fees2013-14”)

Leadership

Scouting doesn't just happen of course! Trained leaders while having fun themselves at Joey, Cub, Scout and Venturer nights and on camps spend an hour or two each week preparing so things go smoothly. As mentioned at closing parades recently and detailed in the letter sent home (and also attached to this email) we are in dire need of additional leaders for all of our section teams.

No leader is expected to be available every week, we need some parents to volunteer to have fun yourself while ensuring your son or daughter continues to be able to enjoy Scouting. Please give this careful consideration, we all have busy lives, but with a minimum sized team of four leaders the load becomes much easier for everyone and the variety of activities our kids can do increases..... its a win win! Please talk to Scott Barnes (0428 379 281) or David Smith (0419 434 306) for more details of what is involved, and rest assured professional training is provided and while a leader gives of their time there is no financial cost to the leader and as an added bonus leaders children enjoy half price membership!
